References
In-text References:
- All references that appear in the text need to be listed in the References
section and all references must be cited in the text.
- Try to use empirical work to support your statements.
- If direction to background information is needed, use statements such as
"for a review, see."
End-of-text References:
- Each element in the reference list contains the following:
- author
- year of publication
- title
- publishing information
- Make sure to spell everything correctly, as this adds to expedient library
searches for the reader.
- Every major word of a journal title is capitalized.
- However, only the first
word and word after a colon are capitalized in a title of an article
or book.
- The authors' last names are listed first, followed by the middle and first
initial.
- However, editors' first initials are listed first, followed by the
last name.
- Do not spell out first or second names of authors or editors.
- Titles of books, periodicals, and microfilm publications are italicized,
as well as periodical volume numbers.
- With multiple authors, names are separated by commas and and ampersand
(&) before the last name (not the word "and").
- Do not include personal communications in this section. Cite these in the
text.
- The reference list should be double spaced and entries should have a hanging
indent.
