Visit Campus

Exploring our Web site and taking the virtual tour is a great beginning to your college search. An actual visit to campus is the best way to get to know Richmond and discover the campus community. We provide several different types of visit opportunities:

Information sessions and campus tours: Offered twice daily Monday-Friday for most of the year, sessions led by an admission officer discuss the University's academic programs and environment as well as the admission process. A student-guided campus tour follows. Families should plan to spend about two-and-a-half hours with us for this program. Schedules vary by season; please consult the Admission Tour Web site or call us at (800) 700-1662 or (804) 289-8640 (locally) for specific times and availability. Information sessions begin in the Office of Admission in Brunet Hall, building number 18 on the campus map.

Spider Saturdays: Because not every family is able to visit during the week, we are open September 6 – December 6, 2008 on Saturdays (excluding November 29, 2008). Spider Saturdays consist of an information session at 11:30 a.m. and a campus tour at 12:15 p.m. (Tour is not guaranteed on October 11, 2008.) Pre-registration is not required.

Informational Interviews: This program offers current and rising seniors the opportunity to speak one on one with an admission representative about the University of Richmond. Appointments are limited and advanced registration is strongly encouraged.

Spiders in Session: UR in Class:  The University community welcomes high school seniors that want to actively join in the dynamic exchanges between Richmond’s current students and professors in regularly scheduled classes.  This is a wonderful opportunity to observe how some of the nation’s top educators inspire students to excel and exceed even their own expectations.  Appointments may be made for most Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays during the fall, and the Office of Admission will assist you in creating your customized visit.

Alumni Informational Interviews The University of Richmond offers alumni informational interviews in a select number of cities. If you are unable to visit the campus and participate in an on-campus informational interview, an interview with a local Richmond alumnus is a great way to learn about the University.

Preview Richmond: This Program for juniors and sophomores is designed for those just starting the college search, or those students who are a bit further along. Learn to focus your search and find that “perfect match.” We also want to share the University of Richmond with you by introducing you to our campus, students, and faculty. See first hand what makes the Richmond experience so unique and exciting. Preview Richmond is typically scheduled for March or April.

Multicultural Student Visitation Programs: These are special programs for multicultural students to explore opportunities at the University of Richmond.

Faculty and coach contact: You may want to meet with a faculty member or coach during your visit. We strongly advise you to plan these appointments well in advance, as the schedules of coaches and faculty members are difficult to arrange with little notice. Because of in-class exams, field trips and altered class schedules, students should call the specific department to make arrangements. The Office of Admission is happy to help you identify the right department/people to make arrangements; call our office at (800) 700-1662 or (804) 289-8640 (locally).
