URweb

The University of Richmond is committed to supporting its Web sites and online activities. UR Web is a resource to help improve the overall quality of all campus Web sites and increase ease of use for campus contributors. Here you will find information on the new Content Management System (CMS), helpful guides and official University policies regarding Richmond’s Web sites.

In the spring of 2006, the University unveiled three important steps to support this commitment.

  • A new content management system will enable campus users to create and maintain official University sites in a user-friendly, productive manner. As that system is implemented throughout 2007, training will be available for users, as well as technical support. In addition, campus offices will receive assistance in migrating Web pages from current development systems—such as iSpin, FrontPage and Dreamweaver—to the new system.

  • A reorganized and enhanced organizational structure and staffing support transfer several key technical and support responsibilities to the newly created Office of Web Services in Information Services. In addition, University Communications has assumed responsibility for directing online marketing and design strategies. The University is hiring a full-time Training/Support staff member, as well as a part-time Help Desk position, to assist with Web-related technical needs. Also, the Marketing Communications office has hired a part-time Writer/Editor to assist with content development.

  • A new Web Steering Committee has been created to set policies, priorities and long-term strategies. In addition to the eight committee members, representatives of key offices may be asked to attend committee meetings according to issues at hand.
