UR Summer Fellowships

The course of our students’ lives is increasingly being shaped by what they learn and do in the summers, whether that’s in a lab or a library, in an office or in the field.

Through the UR Summer Fellowship program, full-time undergraduate students may receive up to $4,000 in funding to take on the responsibilities of a challenging unpaid internship or spend a summer conducting research side-by-side with a faculty member.

UR Summer Fellowships offer students powerful experiences that complement Richmond’s rigorous academics. Faculty-mentored research experiences allow students to pursue original intellectual discovery while also providing them with the laboratory, field, or archival experience that enables them to secure admission and fellowships to top graduate programs. Summer internships challenge students to apply what they’ve learned in a new setting while providing traction in the professional world. UR Summer Fellowships allow faculty to augment their research dollars with institutional resources, so that they can do even more remarkable work.

Through the seven different programs that make up the UR Summer Fellowship program, more than 200 students each summer have the opportunity to pursue a research project or internship that fits their passion.
