The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program at the University of Richmond is an interdisciplinary program supported by both the Chemistry and Biology Departments that fulfils the suggested curriculum requirements for degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology suggested by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Faculty in the program maintain active research programs in a variety of areas of biochemistry and molecular biology and students are encouraged to engage in meaningful research activities during their career at the University of Richmond. The program also supports and encourages students to engage in summer research either on campus or at a variety of off campus sites around the country. The program has a regular seminar series of invited speakers from research universities, industry and government laboratories to allow students to investigate a full range of career opportunities as well as hear outstanding science. The BS Degree program is designed for students with serious intentions of continuing a career in the molecular life sciences, either in research or medicine and offers opportunities to gain research experience and attend professional society meetings to make presentations. The Student BMB Club is fully affiliated with the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and offers students opportunities for travel awards to professional meetings as well as a wide variety of social and scientific activities. |
